You must try "Los Amigos" for dinner while in Calafate

It was a welcoming surprise to come across "Los Amigos" seafood and pasta restaurant on our third night in Calafate.  Juan was such a marvelously entertaining and welcoming host. We arrived near closing as we didn't have an address to find his place -- just a vague "go that way" from a bus driver when we asked for a recommendation of a great place to dine that wasn't touristy and double Buenos Aires rates!  Calafate can be a tourist trap so don't assume but ask questions about the establishments you venture into.

Be sure to ask about his friend, a researcher, in Antarctica tracking environmental changes (in the picture Juan is pointing to).  He's been SCUBA diving these outpost waters for years.  And yes, he confirmed it was very cold down under but very exciting.

Note address:  Ernesto Leman 40 - Tel. 492093  and I'll bet if you call Juan, he will pick you up!  He must bottle his wonderful spirit.  You leave feeling good about the kindness in the world.

What an experience!
